Game 4 - Richwoods

PEORIA -- A shorthanded Pekin girls soccer team lost to Richwoods 5-0 in Mid-State 6 Conference action Tuesday night. Because of injury, illness and vacation, the Dragons suited up just 13 against the 2003 conference champs. Sophomore forward Elizabeth Sinclair led the Knights with goals in the opening minutes of both halves. Pekin (1-3, 1-2) next visits Manual Tuesday.

Coming of a big win, I was hoping for a solid showing against Richwoods. Like Notre Dame and Central, we had never beaten them before. Not that I was expecting that to change, but I was hoping we could at least build on the progress we had made against Central. But it wasn't to be. Aside from the fact that we were missing several players due to injury and spring break, we were dominated physically.

They are a fundamentally sound, well coached team and we only managed one shot on goal in a 5-0 loss.
